Dutch watchmaker De Rijke & Co. has long stood out by reimagining how a timepiece can be built and presented. Following the 2019 debut Amalfi collection, which paired a cleverly rotatable center case inside an outer cradle to fuse practicality with design ingenuity, the brand now pivots away from case mechanics and into sculptural form. The Capri collection centers on shape, proportion, and atmosphere, crafted for elegant evenings and quiet confidence. It draws inspiration from the island that lends its name— a place famed for cinematic light, architecture, and timeless style.
The Capri’s case is a study in restrained minimalism. In stainless steel, it measures 28.5 mm wide by 38 mm long and only 6.5 mm thick. Traditional lugs are replaced by integrated, sculptural extensions that give the watch a unified, flowing silhouette. Even the caseback screws are hidden behind the strap to preserve the seamless geometry. Built for daily wear, Capri is water resistant to 30 meters and protected by a 1 mm-thick curved sapphire crystal that evokes the bowed glass seen in vintage shopfronts and mid‑century architecture.
The dial continues the sculptural motif. Rather than lying flat, its edges bend gently to follow the crystal’s contour, creating a dynamic interplay of light and depth. Three versions are offered: black onyx stone, black aventurine, and Capri Blue lacquer. All surfaces are polished to enhance the display’s refinement. The Capri Blue edition stands out with applied baton indices, a sleek handset, and a recessed, snailed small-seconds subdial with a red hand. The other two variants present a cleaner look with no hour markers and openworked hands.
Powering the Capri family is the La Joux-Perret D100 (small seconds) or D101 (hours and minutes), a hand-wound caliber that provides a refined alternative to the classic Peseux 7001. The movement is slim, well finished, and dependable, complements the Capri’s elegant proportions, and features a 21,600 vph beat rate with a 50-hour power reserve. The D100 also offers notable decoration on bridges and plates.
