A standout Oklahoma defensive back is preparing to explore new opportunities after planning a move into the NCAA Transfer Portal. Kendal Dolby, who joined the Sooners following two seasons at NEO A&M, appears set to seek a fresh chapter elsewhere, On3 has learned.
Dolby contributed for Oklahoma in 2024, appearing in four games. Head coach Brent Venables has kept Dolby’s status somewhat guarded at times, noting that the veteran defensive back was “trying to figure everything out” as the season unfolded in October.
In his four appearances this season, Dolby logged nine tackles. He started all three games he played in during the 2024 campaign before suffering a broken ankle. He finished the year with 10 tackles and a pass breakup. Earlier in the season, Venables spoke highly of Dolby’s resilience and his return to the field, highlighting the depth of his leadership and competitive spirit.

Dolby’s best statistical performance to date came in his OU debut season in 2023, when he appeared in 13 games with three starts. He posted a career-best 49 tackles, along with two sacks, four pass breakups, and two interceptions, earning All-Big 12 honorable mention recognition for that year.
Prior to arriving at Oklahoma, Dolby had already drawn attention at the JUCO level, where he earned the Southwest Junior College Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors as a sophomore in 2022. He chose Oklahoma over a slate of other programs, including Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Washington, and Washington State.
