Nathaniel Lowe Joins Cincinnati Reds! Can He Bring Power to the Lineup? (2026)

Reds ink minor-league pact with veteran first baseman Nathaniel Lowe, inviting him to big-league spring training

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — The Cincinnati Reds have agreed to a minor league contract with veteran first baseman Nathaniel Lowe and have extended an invitation to participate in major league camp during spring training, the club announced on Saturday.

Lowe, 30, split last season between the Washington Nationals and the Boston Red Sox. He had a rough stretch with the Nationals but finished strong with the Red Sox, posting a .280 batting average with two home runs and 16 RBIs across 100 at-bats.

MLB.com reports that if Lowe makes the Reds’ roster out of camp, he would earn $1.75 million for the season, with a potential to reach $2 million through performance bonuses.

Lowe is a standout veteran, having won a World Series with the Texas Rangers in 2023 and having reached a career-high 27 homers in 2022.

Across seven seasons, he has batted .264 and slugged 107 homers while playing for the Rangers, Nationals, Red Sox, and Rays.
