The Huawei Mate X7 has officially made its debut on the international stage, boasting a sleek design available in three distinct colors: White, Black, and a striking Nebula Red. This model comes with a robust configuration of 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, priced at €2,099. While this places it at a higher price point compared to competitors like the Honor Magic V5, which retails for €1,599, the Mate X7 aims to deliver value through its premium features.
When you purchase the Huawei Mate X7, you can expect a commendable retail package. Included in the box are a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, a powerful 66W charger, and a protective case that features a detachable kickstand for added convenience. Notably, the Nebula Red version showcases a luxurious vegan leather finish, similar to that of the Black variant, while the Brocade White model stands out with its unique textured rear panel, crafted from intricately woven threads that give it a sophisticated look.
As far as foldable smartphones go, the Huawei Mate X7 is considered one of the most aesthetically pleasing devices released this year. Its gently curved edges may slightly hinder the ease of opening and closing the phone, yet they contribute to an overall more refined appearance, particularly when compared to the flat sides of the Galaxy Z Fold7. Although the Samsung model is lighter and slimmer, the Mate X7 compensates with a significantly larger battery—30% more capacity—and much faster charging capabilities.
The cover display has been upgraded from last year’s Mate X6, now measuring 6.49 inches diagonally. It offers enhanced brightness, reaching a peak of 3,000 nits, and is protected by Huawei’s proprietary Kunlun Glass 2, ensuring durability. On the inside, the main display has also seen a slight increase in size, now at 8 inches compared to the previous 7.93-inch screen. Users can expect a high-quality panel with minimal creasing, thanks to Huawei's robust hinge design, which feels sturdy and reliable.
In terms of photography, the Mate X7 retains the same main camera setup as its predecessor, featuring a variable aperture f/1.4-f/4.0 lens alongside a 40MP ultrawide and dual 8MP selfie cameras. However, it introduces a new periscope zoom camera that boasts a 50MP sensor with an 81mm f/2.2 lens, offering improved brightness over the previous model’s 90mm f/3.0 variant. This updated chip features a 9-core processor with higher clock speeds across all cores, along with an upgraded GPU.
