Breaking news for Disneyland enthusiasts! The beloved Anaheim Transportation Network (ATN), a vital shuttle service for years, is sadly shutting down on March 31, 2026. This decision, made by the governing board, will significantly impact the travel experience for those staying off-site at Disneyland.

The decision to cease operations was not an easy one. According to the Orange County Register, ATN has faced structural budget deficits for several years. The agency's funding, which comes from hotel contributions and rider fares, has struggled to keep up with rising labor costs. Over 70% of ATN's operating expenses are dedicated to labor, a significant challenge for the organization.
The Anaheim Transportation Network Board of Directors shared a statement, acknowledging the impact of their decision: "For nearly three decades, ATN has supported mobility in the Anaheim Resort, serving residents, employees, and millions of visitors. After an extensive evaluation of our financial position, we have decided to wind down operations in an orderly and transparent manner."
The City of Anaheim explored the possibility of taking over ATN last year, aiming to stabilize its finances without increasing hotel fees. However, these discussions did not lead to a successful acquisition.
With the end of ART, guests will likely turn to ridesharing services like Uber/Lyft, which offer a comparable price point. However, the convenience and accessibility of ART, especially for guests with strollers or e-scooters, will be missed. The current rideshare pick-up and drop-off process at Disneyland is already chaotic, and the demand is expected to increase further once ART is no longer an option.
The good news is that DisneylandForward, a future expansion, includes plans for a new parking structure and transportation hub. This development will create a more efficient area for rideshare drop-offs and improve overall traffic flow within the resort. Additionally, the city is considering innovative transportation options, such as a gondola system, to enhance guest mobility around Anaheim.
While the loss of ART will impact many Disneyland visitors, there is hope that these new transportation improvements will soon follow. In the meantime, we can expect increased demand and congestion in the current rideshare area as guests seek alternative transportation options.
