Alterman's journey began with a simple yet powerful idea: to provide adults with learning disabilities and autism a platform to express themselves and find purpose. She recognized a pressing need, as she explained, "I kept hearing about loneliness, a lack of fulfilling activities, and limited access to meaningful work."

Seeta, a regular at Artbox, shared her story. Diagnosed with meningitis at a young age, she has faced epilepsy and panic attacks. Yet, her artistic journey began at 20, and the excitement of her first sale is still vivid: "I ran home shouting, 'I sold a painting!'"
