21 Savage Makes History with Latest No. 1 Album on R&B/Hip-Hop Chart
In a remarkable achievement, 21 Savage has once again secured the top position on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, marking his fifth consecutive album to do so. This impressive streak, which started back in 2019, is bolstered by his latest release, "What Happened to the Streets?" This album debuted at number one on the list dated December 27, 2025, under the Slaughter Gang/Epic Records label. During the tracking week of December 12-18, it amassed 73,000 equivalent album units in the United States, as reported by Luminate.
Fans may have been pleasantly surprised by the arrival of "What Happened to the Streets?" The album was officially announced only four days before its launch on December 8, creating a buzz among listeners. It features collaborations with several prominent artists in the hip-hop scene, including long-time collaborators Drake, Lil Baby, and Metro Boomin, alongside talents like G Herbo, GloRilla, and Latto, adding to its appeal.
Breaking down the album’s impressive first-week performance, streaming accounted for a significant portion—48,000 units—translating to a whopping 65.8 million official on-demand audio and video streams of its tracks. Additionally, traditional album sales contributed 25,000 units, while track-equivalent album units played a minimal role in the overall total. To clarify, one unit can be derived from either one album sale, ten individual tracks sold from an album, or various tiers of paid or ad-supported streams.
With this latest release, 21 Savage not only extends his record but also solidifies his place in the music industry, achieving his fifth No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. His previous projects that led to this ongoing streak include "I Am > I Was," which held the top spot for two weeks in January 2019, and collaborative works such as "Savage Mode II" with Metro Boomin and "Her Loss" with Drake, which dominated the charts for weeks in late 2022. More recently, his solo album "American Dream" clinched the top position for three weeks in early 2024.
In addition to its success on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart, "What Happened to the Streets?" also marks 21 Savage's sixth No. 1 on the Top Rap Albums chart and debuted at No. 3 on the all-genre Billboard 200, showcasing its broad appeal across genres.
The impact of the album doesn't stop there; 13 tracks from "What Happened to the Streets?" have made their way onto the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, with the standout collaboration "Mr Recoup" featuring Drake landing at an impressive No. 4. This achievement adds to 21 Savage's tally of 37 top ten hits on this chart, while Drake further extends his record to an astonishing 143 entries in the top tier.
