Day 2 of pre-season testing in Barcelona is underway, with Freddie Slater leading the morning session ahead of Noah Stromsted and Taito Kato. Teams have three hours of running in the morning, a two-hour lunch break, and three hours in the afternoon. Follow the live timing here: https://livetiming.alkamelsystems.com/circuitcat.
The afternoon session saw Ugochukwu take the top spot, followed by Heuzenroeder and Nael, with Badoer and Ho in fourth and fifth for Rodin. Deligny is sixth, with VAR teammate Del Pino in seventh. Hitech's McLaughlin, Tramnitz, and Nakamura round out the top 10.
Enzo Deligny's car went off the track between Turns 7 and 8, causing a red flag. Campos dominated the afternoon with Ugochukwu on top, followed by Heuzenroeder and Nael. The fastest time of the day, however, belongs to Freddie Slater, who was quickest in the morning's qualifying simulations ahead of Noah Stromsted and Taito Kato.
As the day progressed, teams continued to test new tyres, with VAR and Campos fitting fresh rubber to their cars. The session remained busy, with Ugochukwu, Tim Tramnitz, and Jin Nakamura all setting fast times. Slater briefly took the lead, but Benavides soon regained it for AIX.
In the final hour, TRIDENT's Slater, Stromsted, and De Palo were on race runs, with Slater in P1, Stromsted in P3, and De Palo in P3. The session concluded with Slater back on top, followed by Stromsted, Kato, Gladysz, and Taponen. The morning session was a qualifying pace focus, with teams and drivers aiming for fast lap times.
The wind caused challenges, with some drivers struggling in the final corner. Hitech's Nakamura and Tramnitz, as well as PREMA's Sharp, showed strong pace. The day concluded with Sharp on top, followed by Kato and Ugochukwu.
The teams' plan for the afternoon included long runs and race simulations, with a focus on replicating real-life situations for drivers, especially rookies. The session will feature laps to the grid, the formation lap, and race starts, as well as pitlane and grid times. The day's activities will provide valuable insights for the teams and drivers as they prepare for the upcoming season.
